CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (CMS)
A content management system (CMS for short) allows you, the website owner to add, edit or delete the content of your website without having any technical skills or programming knowledge.
We have a variety of web content management systems which we have developed for a number of different Stafford based companies. If you would like a demonstration of any of these please let us know.
How does a content management system work?
First, we'll design your website with 'dynamic' pages. A dynamic web page is simply a page where the content is created from a database each time the page is viewed. If you change the information in the database, then next time someone views that page it will display the new information. We’ll then custom build a secure admin area that you can login to from any computer that has internet access. Once logged in you’ll be able to view, add, edit and delete specific content. As you change this content it will update the database that is used to display your website's 'dynamic' content - therefore updating your website.
What are the advantages to having a CMS?
Cost: The most obvious advantage is that you can change your website's content yourself. Whether this be adding a news item, changing the price of a product or advertising a special offer, a CMS saves you having to pay for a website designer every time you need something changing.
Keeping Up-to-Date: In many cases it is crucial to have the right up to date content present on your website. A content management system will ensure that you can keep your web content up-to-date and keep your customers informed with the latest information about your company and its products or services.
Flexibility: A CMS gives you flexibility to build content over time, so if when you launch your new website you only stock 10 products but you know as time goes by you'll want to add more, then a CMS is ideal. Your website will be built with an integrated CMS that will allow you to add products as often as you like - so you can get your site up and running even though you haven't yet sourced all your products.
Where to start?
We start by researching your company's needs and discussing which content on your website you would like to be able to change. We'll then custom build your CMS, in conjunction with designing your website. We use the same styles (fonts, colours, layout etc) across both the website and the CMS, so when you amend the content it will automatically be formatted in-line with the site's design style allowing you to concentrate on the content rather than getting bogged down by the design.
How much does a content management system cost?
The scope of what can be achieved using a CMS is vast and therefore so is the price range, but as a guide you could expect to pay a further £500 - £1500 on top of the website design cost - please get in touch for a [ quote ] or pop in to our web design studio in Stafford to discuss your requirements.
